Catrina Mezcalero — Hand-Engraved Jícara from Oaxaca
Sip tradition with every pour.
Hand-engraved by Oaxacan artist José Cruz Sanz, this Catrina mezcalero is carved from jícaras — dried gourds that grow on the Ciria tree along the Oaxacan coast. Using hand tools called gubias, fine sandpaper, and touches of paint, José transforms each gourd into a celebration of life, death, and artistry.
The Catrina design honors Mexico’s Día de Muertos spirit — elegant, eternal, and full of soul. Perfect for sipping mezcal or displaying as art, each piece connects you directly to Oaxaca’s living craft tradition.
✨ Because every gourd is unique, slight variations in shape and engraving make each one a true original.
